Song of the moment: “Two Against One” by Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi, starring Jack White

I suppose it was inevitable that two of the princes of the side projects would collaborate on a song. the single is off the album Rome. It is two and a half minutes of musical goodness. Since I’m a fan these two gentlemen, I’m not surprised by the quality. What I am surprised is how a mellow, laid-back track would get played on commercial radio in 2011. It has to be due to their cache of star power. I doubt an unknown artist or band could get a song like this on the airwaves. That is a shame, but that’s the hegemonic nature of radio and music as a whole nowadays. Even the alternative genre has very little diversity nowadays. I for one am glad for this little change of pace.
